Check out sporting venues

Soon after arriving to report on a big event like the Olympics, go to the venues you will be covering and get to know the layout of the place, meet the people who are running the press centre, see where you will be sitting and how much desk space you will have, check communication lines and see how it will all work. And on competition/match days leave plenty of time - more than you think you'll need - to get to the venue. That will allow you to check that your communications are working, so you have time to do something about it if they are not. Check communications (phone lines, computer, laptop), send test messages and make check call to Desk.
