Westminster Foundation for Democracy in collaboration with Thomson Reuters Foundation and Mohyla School of Journalism invite you to participate in the “Parliamentary Communications for journalists and parliamentary communicators” workshop. The workshop will take place on November 2-6, 2009 in Kyiv, Ukraine as part of the Westminster Consortium project “Strengthening Parliaments and Democracy” (http://www.parliamentarycentre.org.ua/ua/).

The training course is 5 days in length and covers both theoretical material and practical communication skills. By the end of the course, the 15 participants of the workshop will be able to write concise, clear and objective materials pertaining to parliamentary procedures, governance and fiscal issues, and will have a better grasp of the specifics of cooperation between the mass media and the parliamentary communicators.

Trainer: Keith Stafford, financial journalist and consultant. Has worked with Reuters news agency in Hong Kong, Tokyo, Moscow and Washington. Has conducted trainings and consultations in over 30 countries. Is currently chief subeditor and journalism trainer in the Olympic News service (Turin 2006, Beijing 2008, Vancouver 2010).
Assistant trainer: Tetyana Lockot, senior teaching fellow at Mohyla School of Journalism, certified journalism/media trainer.

We invite journalists from Ukrainian media who cover parliamentary issues to participate in the workshop. If you’re interested and want to be a part of the course, please submit the following documents:

1. Application form, available for download by clicking here.
2. Short bio (up to 250 words) or CV (resume).
3. Two latest examples of your journalistic work that deal with the course issues. Examples can be publications or TV/radio packages on digital carriers.
