Thomson Reuters Foundation (TRF) is a key partner in twofour54 tadreeb – a major media training academy serving the Middle East.

Based in Abu Dhabi, the tadreeb academy offers a wide range of courses for media professionals working across the region, from Morocco in the west to Iraq in the east. Its own training team is supplemented by expert instructors drawn from its three main partners: the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), the Thomson Foundation, and Reuters Training Programmes provided by TRF.

The academy provides courses in Arabic and English in all main media disciplines, including reporting, editing, broadcasting, the internet and new media. There are newsroom management training workshops and also specialist courses designed to meet the media needs of government officials, corporate executives and individual news organisations. Training is region-focused wherever pertinent, with course materials and exercises often designed around local events to keep them fully relevant to local needs and concerns.

Launched in April 2009, the academy operates in state-of-the-art facilities within twofour54, Abu Dhabi’s home to the creative industries, which has been set up to offer media and entertainment organisations a complete range of services to drive their success and growth in the Middle East. This environment provides dual benefits: helping local media to extend their skills by drawing on expertise from around the world, and improving access and understanding for overseas media wanting to develop their presence in the region.
